Padstow Squadron is one of the few Squadrons of the Australian Air League with the capability to form and field a marching Band. The Band is currently training as a Drum band comprising Snare drums, Tenor and Base Drum, Triangles and other percussion instruments. In the past we have also offered tuition in the Fife. It is also planned for interested members to learn the Bugle. Tuition is conducted on Friday parade nights by experienced musicians.
The learning, practice and playing of music gives the Cadet not only a skill, but also cultivates many attributes that benefit the development of the youth, as well as the Cadet.
The Squadron Band program not only develops the practical skills of playing a musical instrument, Cadets are also trained how to read and interpret musical scores and tunes. This knowledge is transferable to other instruments not played by the band.
The Philosopher Plato said of Music “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.
As a skilled musician in our Squadron band your son will be given the skills and knowledge to be thus inspired.
